The theatre performance ‘Andiyondoda’ focuses on a how a young man has to give up marrying the love of his life because the traditional ritual he partook in was not completed; declaring him ‘not man enough’.

The traditional ritual Simphiwe Vikilahle and Mojalefa Koyana portrayed in this performance was Ulwaluko, practised by the amaXhosa. This process of becoming a man can be hindered by sickness according to Koyana. Such health issues arise from botched circumcisions which in fact caused the death of 26 initiates from the Eastern Cape since the start of the ritual in June.
