What Remains a theatre production inspired by the discovery of a slave burial site in Cape Town in 2003. Choreographed by Jay Pather, the story is told through four characters – the student, the archaeologist, the healer and the dancer. According to writer Nadia Davids, the play illustrates the conflict of interest between capital and heritage which she claims relates to South Africa’s current political climate.
