Bra Zakes is a production written by George Benson Mabatle, a Correctional Service warder, and is performed by students of the Tshwane University of Technology. In the play, Bra Zakes is a well-known politician who has the power to manipulate the system. He promises to take care of the family of James, his friend with whom he served a ten-year prison sentence, after he passes away.

Many years later, Bra Zakes starts sexually abusing James’ daughter. The play was written in 2016 after the passing of Fezekile ‘Khwezi’ Khuzwayo, whose identity was revealed for the first time after President Jacob Zuma was acquitted of all the charges that were put against him, including the rape charge by the late Khuzwayo.
