History re-imagined in Battles! – Iimfazwe!

The Isikhumbuzo Applied History Unit of Rhodes University offered visitors a chance to revisit, relearn, and relive the past during a storytelling tour around Grahamstown and its historic sites.

Battles! – Iimfazwe! is the brainchild of Rhodes History Masters student Masixole Zinzo Patrick Heshu, who seeks to magnify the history that often goes undocumented, in the quest to construct a future devoid of past transgressions. The tour journeys to the past in colourful song, lively drama performances, emotive poetry, and the ancient art of oral storytelling.

The sites visited were Hilltop, Egazini Memorial, and the Old Gaol.
